Florida residents and visitors love our beautiful state parks. Lovers Key State Park is one of the most visited State Parks in Florida. Visitors will be excited to learn that Florida legislators have set aside nearly $4 million for a brand new Visitor Center, with ground breaking expected early in 2018.
The new Center will provide much needed shelter during inclement weather, exhibits to provide information about Florida, Lovers Key and enhance wildlife talks and tours.
Lovers Key is one of four barrier islands that make up this state park. A haven for wildlife, the islands and their waters are home to West Indian manatees, bottlenose dolphins, roseate spoonbills, marsh rabbits, and bald eagles. The two mile long beach is accessible by boardwalk or tram and is popular for shelling, swimming, picnicking and sunbathing.
Some of SW Florida’s fortunate residents have direct access to Lovers Key by private boat – Pelican Sound Golf & River Club is one of those communities.
